The Foundation recently donated a sixty-inch smart television set to Don Bosco rehabilitation center. In Kenya, it is estimated that there are approximately 3.6 million children aged between five and eighteen years who are orphaned or live in the streets. The Don Bosco Centre rehabilitates street boys who are later reintegrated with their families or are promoted to boarding primary school in Kuwinda, Karen.
Children who grow up without a loving family struggle to develop social skills or receive an education and can suffer acute mental health issues. They therefore need attention and creative ways to distract them from these issues. The television will be used for education programs, presentation and entertainment and will help to reinforces reading and classroom material. It will also aid in the development of a common base of knowledge among students, enhances student comprehension and discussion, provides greater accommodation of diverse learning styles, increases student motivation and enthusiasm and promote teacher effectiveness.
Over the past 12 years, the Group has supported Rhino Ark in their initiatives through our involvement with their annual Rhino Charge event – the funds from which are used to support ongoing Rhino Ark initiatives.
