Rangers in Lamek, Enonkishu, Ol Chorro and Mara North conservancies will benefit in addition to the newly established Mbokishi Mara Conservancy.
Rangers work on the frontline to protect species that are under threat on a daily basis. They operate in extreme environments, and in their efforts to protect our natural heritage, face the risks associated with confronting armed poachers and militia groups, dangerous wild animals, sickness and community backlash.
There are approximately 40,000 rangers across the continent, of which only 1,600 have life insurance. It is also estimated that around 100 rangers are killed in the line of duty each year and many more injured, preventing them from working. The Foundation is delighted to offer these lifesaving covers to help rangers continue with their work and play their part in the critical efforts to protect wildlife and their habitat as well as the communities that live within and adjacent to these areas.
Over the past 12 years, the Group has supported Rhino Ark in their initiatives through our involvement with their annual Rhino Charge event – the funds from which are used to support ongoing Rhino Ark initiatives.
