Platcorp Group Named Impact Enterprise of the Year at the 2026 Africa Impact Investment Awards

Platcorp Group is proud to announce that it has been named Impact Enterprise of the Year at the 2026 Africa Impact Investment Awards, a prestigious recognition that celebrates organisations driving measurable social and environmental impact while delivering sustainable business growth.

The awards, organised by Krutham and sponsored by FirstRand, recognise leading institutions across the African impact investment ecosystem. Platcorp's selection reflects more than two decades of commitment to expanding access to responsible financial services for underserved individuals, households, farmers and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Since its founding in 2003, Platcorp has evolved from a traditional lender into a technology-enabled impact fintech operating at significant scale. The Group has disbursed more than US$7 billion in loans and built a workforce of over 10,000 employees, all while maintaining a strong focus on serving customers who are often excluded from formal financial systems.

The judging panel recognised Platcorp's ability to effectively deploy catalytic, risk-tolerant capital to deliver responsible financial services to low-income communities while maintaining strong lending discipline and sustainable business performance. This balance between impact and financial sustainability remains central to the Group's operating philosophy.

Across many African markets, limited access to affordable financing continues to constrain economic growth and opportunity. Small businesses struggle to access working capital, farmers face challenges investing in productivity-enhancing assets, and households often lack financing for essential needs such as water storage, education and clean energy solutions. Platcorp's purpose-driven lending model was developed to address these challenges by providing sector-specific financing aligned with customers' cash flows and long-term needs.

Today, the Group offers financing solutions across a range of impact sectors, including agriculture, education, water access, renewable energy, electric mobility and small business development. Through a combination of digital credit assessment, data-driven underwriting, strong local distribution networks and strategic partnerships, Platcorp continues to extend financial inclusion while managing risk responsibly.

The award also highlights the Group's role in mobilising capital for impact. Over the years, Platcorp has attracted funding from more than 50 institutional investors, including leading development finance institutions and impact investors. This support has helped unlock additional local-currency financing from commercial banks, creating a multiplier effect that expands access to capital for underserved communities.

Equally important has been the integration of environmental, social and governance considerations into the Group's operations. Through responsible lending practices, environmental and social risk management systems, and tools designed to better target low-income customers, Platcorp continues to demonstrate that meaningful impact and commercial success can reinforce one another.

This achievement belongs to every member of the Platcorp family. It reflects the dedication of our employees, the trust of our customers, the support of our investors and partners, and our shared commitment to creating opportunities that improve lives across Africa.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on our mission of delivering inclusive financial solutions that empower individuals, strengthen businesses and contribute to sustainable economic growth across the continent.
